and to shun evil is understanding.' " (Job 28:28)
James 1:5 tells us "if any of you lacks wisdom he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea , blow and tossed by the wind."
God is the author of all wisdom. Isaiah 55:8 says ""For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD."
We do not naturally have wisdom for the way we would naturally see something is not the way God sees it. There for if we are left to our own devices, we can have no wisdom, only our own carnal views.
James 3:13-18 says "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, nonspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
Now after taking a brief look at the way scripture describes wisdom, we see a picture of Godly wisdom:
Wisdom is:
- humble
- loving
- peace oriented
- considerate
- submissive
- merciful
- impartial
- sincere
